Escape Seasonal Stress with a Relaxing Bath

With the holiday season upon us and the New Year approaching fast, we at Five Star Bath Solutions want to take a moment to remind you to take some time to relax. We know this season is stressful, especially with all the effort you are putting into making sure your loved ones have a nice Christmas. Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Set aside some time to take a relaxing bath. Get some exquisite bath salts, light a candle and turn on your favorite music and just soak for a while. Here are a few pointers for creating a beneficial bath.

Try adding:

  • Epsom Salt
  • Lavender
  • Ginger
  • Baking Soda
  • Natural Essential Oils
  • Honey

I am not an expert on combining ingredients, so I will direct you to this link for relaxing bath recipes. Choose a recipe or combination that will best help you. Epsom salt relaxes muscles, lavender is calming, baking soda is refreshing, honey is moisturizing and healing. Either experiment or do some research for your own winning combination.

Use your wrist to select the best water temperature. A bath that is too hot can cause headaches, dizziness, and leave you feeling sluggish. The temperature shouldn’t be any higher than 100 F. Remember, because you are soaking in a warm bath, you can become dehydrated. Drink plenty of water before, during and after your soak to help prevent dehydration.

Because bathroom lights are usually not relaxing, light a few candles in a safe location and turn off the lights. Bonus points if the candles smell good. Close your eyes and breath deep. For at least the next 20 minutes there is nothing to worry about.

If you are into multi-tasking, take advantage of this opportunity to treat your face and hair to some deep moisturizing. Apply a mask to your face and do some deep conditioning or apply a hair mask, use a plastic shower cap to keep the conditioner in your hair until you are just about finished soaking.

If a bath just isn’t your thing, encourage your companion to take an opportunity to go relax while you wrap the presents and/or take care of the kids.

If reading this post is depressing you, because your tub is better suited to bathing your 3-year-old, maybe it’s time to put a soaker or whirlpool tub on your Christmas wishlist. If not, at least make it a goal for next year’s bathroom renovation project. You deserve a tub you can actually relax in.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and may you have a Happy New Year from your friends at Five Star Bath Solutions.
